1950's Girdle For Women

Armistis

The Armistis live, 1969

The mystery still hangs around the group L 'Armistis. Music as the only witness their passage on the Quebec scene of the late 60s, early 70s, there was a very good 45s soul and psychedelic tendencies, a bit funky around the edges.

Ben behold I found an article Featured Photo dated October 1969 which gives us a little more info about The Armistis.

The group would be from the neighborhood of St. Stanislas in Montreal. Maybe some of Montreal's origin could help me trace what name we know today that neighborhood?

The article gives us the names of three of the band members: Yves Venne (band leader, organ), Beliveau Dodo (voice) and Gérard Caron (bass). They have started under the name of Steve and His Fabulous Band and will be made known "by the way they attack the songs with vigor and brutality," according Featured Photos . Brutality? Whoa! Strange, but how attractive qualifier for a group peace & love which then adopted the name The Armistis (truce between armed hostilities in war)! Featured Photo

also informs us that at the time of writing, their manager, Gerald Monahan, is preparing to produce their debut album. The

Armistis - My life

Heritage PQ Note that you had also offered the MP3 of the song My Life, some time ago, in an excellent article about Quebec rockers of the 70s. Read here. One can also find my life on the compilation The Introuvables Vol. 20 of Discs Worth .

The first single was released in 1970 (in all likelihood), the R & B label of Tony Roman. Both pieces found there, My life and me Mice are actually twice. My life is Vehicle the Ides of March and Mouse me is Make Me Smile Chicago. Just then the sound of The Armistis very similar to that of white funk rock groups in Chicago and Blood, Sweat and Tears of the time. Another local group that has done very well like this, it Illustration , who composed the soundtrack for the legendary film After-Ski .

Moreover, it is none other than Jacques Crevier, which also provides the arrangements and the composition of a few songs on the soundtrack of After-Ski, who made the arrangements and orchestrations for The Armistis. Jacques Crevier gave a good figure and beautiful soul horn arrangements well on dozens of songs he has settled in Quebec in the late 60s. I heard that the blog Psyquébélique prepares us an article interview with About Jacques Crevier. I look forward to more!

The Armistis - Mouse me

Return to article Featured Photo . This is actually a review of a concert of The Armistis, given "Saturday" (the newspaper was published October 25, 1969 ...), the Disco-Cave, located in the basement of Place Laurier, Laurier. The unidentified critic seems to have Tripp about the show!

"This is a new band that makes good music and moves plenty of air, they dance jump, take their shirts, are having a field day and as much as it pleases them, certainly. "rave.

We also learn that, that evening was a celebration of the singer and bassist of the training and that for this occasion, a giant cake was offered to the public with the middle, a Serge Laprade-surprise! Wow! Then Yves Venne is mounted on the organ and would be made chanted slogans like "Peace and Brotherhood" "It must be quite a party.

I did not find traces of Yves Venne. J'me wondering if there is a link to do with Stéphane Venne? Probably not. After few searches on the web, I found a reference to a musical director and organist named Yves Venne for English Catholic parish, which I could not confirm the exact geographical location. The

Armistis probably played a few years in Montreal, then, is very likely that their members are scattered here and there in other groups. But for now, we do not know!

If you were part of the Armistis or have other infos about the band, please come!

In addition, the original covers of The Armistis:

The Ides of March - Vehicle

Chicago - Make me smile

-----------------------------------
L'Armistis were a cool funk rock band à la Blood, Sweat and Tears. On their sole yet excellent 45, they cover The Ides of March's Vehicle, which becomes Ma vie in french, and Chicago's Make Me Smile, Souris-moi, in french. Dig it.
