Eric and the kids - The Marauders

*** UPDATE ***
of Norman McPhee band Eric and the kids write us to witness the band's history! Read the whole thing a little later in this text!

Here's one of my favorite songs garage Quebec: Marauders of Eric and the kids. However, this piece has never been compiled (to my knowledge) and is not particularly desired by collectors garage Quebec (that I know of!).

I came across a copy quite by chance this week in an antique shop. In fact, I came across a batch of 45 rpm garage for $ 1 each. Among these finds, Marauders the song was really the most aggressive of the lot.

guitar bite from the first chords and Eric shouted: "marauders !!!", just before a small lead guitar comes ripping everything. Every time I listen to this intro to break everything, I can not help but imagine interpreted by The Gruesomes ... it makes me really think about some of the highlights of the Fearsome Foursome Montreal. This ad smash well the words of the rest of the song that reminds me The bad boys of Denis S. Pants (aka Denis and the Panthers - which you already spoke on Garage Sale). Eric St. Pierre, whose real name, describes a band of young thugs who do not seem too easy to live: "The marauders are boys who break everything, flip all [...] and if someone wants to stop, I tell you, they will be angry!

Everything grows into cries and leads treble and powerful ... wow! Really, punk before its time! Moreover, it is Eric himself has 17 years, wrote the lyrics and music of this nugget garage. We feel that it puts all its adolescent rage, the guts, something good and naively felt disgusted.

Eric and the kids - Marauders

Launched in 1966 on label Teledisc (TD-18), Marauders will be the only song of Eric and the kids, from St-Hyacinthe, to be engraved on wax. At the side of the 45s, love the hell out , a ballad that does not fall into the ropes Garage Sale, is attributed to Eric alone. It will be for the rest of the singer's career will know that a popular success with ballads and cheesy pop songs throughout the province, and that, until 1972. We must however mention some songs more "daring" Eric the late '60s, when he tried to follow the current psychedelic with songs like fingers in V or Smoky Mary, among others.

Recently, Norman MacPhee, a member of the kids, shared with us the following account:

Here are some additional details from a guy who has known Eric and his kids. The group was formed when I was only 15. Two members, Pat (Maurice Larramée) and Gammon (his brother Rejean), lived in St-Hilaire and Geffroy (Jean-Claude Bourgeois) and Max (Norman MacPhee) in Beloeil. A keyboard player (Normand Bourgeois) joined the band a little later. The first bass player named Gaston, I do not remember the name but it was he who came from St-Hyacinthe. He has made known impresario Gerry Plamondon who handled the Sultans, the Aristocrats and the Leprechauns. We did dance halls around the province for some time until Denis S. Pantis take Eric's career in hand. Indeed, we have recorded a 45 rpm single with Eric and Kids, but many of the songs he endisquées thereafter it was written while we were a group. I think Nathan and others. I think Jean-Claude died recently, as in Mauritius and Rejean, they either live or Beloeil St-Hilaire.

It is with great sadness that I listen to The Marauders and Love crazy camp. I found a CD with a dozen songs written and performed by Eric Teledisc on the banner.

Eric, for sa part, aurait plus tard fondé la fondation Mira, s'occupant de dresser les chiens guides pour aveugles. Une mission que je respecte énormément. Plus d'infos ici .
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This uncomped nugget by St-Hyacinthe's own Éric et Les Gamins is one of my all time favorite garage québécois song. Eric (who's real name is Dominique Saint-Pierre, wrote this song and recorded it at 17 years old) screams in a snotty way about a gang of young boys who appreciate to break stuff. The whole thing is backed by a constant high pitch tearing lead guitar that really reminds of some of Montreal's The Gruesomes' best stuff. Marauders Is the only song ever Recorded by Eric and the kids. The A side of this 45 Is A cheesy ballad That Will Be The bike for Eric's pop career That will go on Until 1972.
